SHORT TERM RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY
MIDRIFT HURINET is a non-profit organization operating in Kenya since 2008 to foster a culture of Human Rights, Good Governance, Peace and Security. We are looking for Research Assistants to be engaged in the following 7 counties: Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Garissa, Kisii, Busia and Mombasa. The Research Assistants will be responsible for supporting all field research activities including; collecting data, interviews, transcription and reporting while adhering to ethical and safeguarding standards.
SCOPE OF WORK
Under the supervision of the field coordinator and the lead researcher, the Research Assistant will; Participate in a training session led by MIDRIFT, attend all online meetings as required within the research process, administer data collection tools to select stakeholders in line with the research protocols and ethical standards, take detailed field notes, clean data and support transcription of audios, while maintaining confidentiality and secure handling of client data. The data collection process will run for 2 months entailing field work in the 7 counties after which the research assistants will earn a monthly stipend. A candidate is preferred with fluency in English and Swahili. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the select county will be an added advantage.
QUALIFICATIONS
a) A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, statistics, or any related field.
b) Prior experience in data collection, research, or monitoring and evaluation.
c) Strong command of English and Kiswahili.
d) Excellent observation skills and reporting.
e) Be a resident in the select counties.
