Job Title: Technical Operations Manager
Location: Nairobi
Reporting to: CEO
About the Role
Our client in the water industry is hiring a Technical Operations Manager to oversee borehole drilling, waterproofing, and construction projects. The role combines project leadership, field operations, team management, and business development support to drive quality service delivery and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Execution
Oversee the full lifecycle of all service delivery projects from planning and resource allocation to execution and close-out.
Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, safety standards, and client expectations.
Develop work plans, track KPIs, and address operational challenges.
2. Operational Oversight
Oversee daily operations in drilling, waterproofing, construction, and maintenance.
Standardize and document processes for consistent, efficient service delivery.
Oversee procurement, inventory, and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
3. Team Management & Development
Lead, motivate, and coach a multidisciplinary field team.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training to build technical and leadership capacity within the operations team.
4. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance
Identify gaps and drive improvements in planning, execution, and reporting.
Implement quality controls to meet industry standards and internal benchmarks.
5. Client & Community Engagement
Serve as the key point of contact for clients and community partners during project execution.
Align projects with local needs and social impact goals; lead post-project reviews and impact assessments where applicable.
6. Financial & Resource Management
Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective resource use across projects.
Collaborate with finance and procurement to ensure timely availability of project inputs and compliance with financial procedures.
7. Reporting & Strategic Input
Report to the CEO on project progress, risks, budgets, and team performance.
Support strategy by recommending improvements, innovations, and new opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Civil/Water Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing service delivery projects, preferably in engineering, water access, or infrastructure sectors.
3+ years in leadership, managing field teams, and delivering results.
Knowledge of drilling, waterproofing, and basic construction.
Strong project planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Experience working on mission-driven or community-centered projects is a strong advantage.
