About Project PARC
Project PARC is a new Kenyan based not for profit that has a vision to harness renewable energy solutions to foster a long-term and sustainable engagement with communities, improving lives while protecting and preserving the environment. This includes implementing programmes in rural pastoralist communities providing access to water using solar energy, supporting with food growing and enterprise development to improve food security, and governance training.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and technically competent Project Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and oversight of community-based infrastructure and energy projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, experience in technical infrastructure development (e.g., solarization, boreholes, farm infrastructure), great attention to detail and a passion for delivering impact at the grassroots level. The Project Engineer will work closely with internal teams, community stakeholders, contractors, and a technical consultant to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability of all community interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Design & Planning
- Conduct technical surveys and analyse data to inform intervention design.
- Lead design and simulation of infrastructure solutions including solar boreholes, farm water systems, and related community projects.
- Review and approve technical designs submitted by contractors.
Procurement & Contracting
- Prepare and manage Request for Quotations (RFQs) based on approved designs.
- Evaluate contractor proposals for quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Review, edit, and coordinate signing of project contracts with contractors and stakeholders.
- Conduct contract briefings and kick-off meetings.
Project Implementation & Management
- Develop project plans, assign tasks, and manage schedules.
- Oversee delivery and verification of equipment supplied for projects.
- Track progress of project activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure project quality and compliance.
