MEDICAL SPECIALISTS I JOB GROUP CPSB 04 (JG ‘Q’-77 POSTS

The County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012 pursuant to Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Section 59 of the County Governments Act 2012 outlines the functions of the CPSB among them being “appoint persons to hold or act in offices of the county public service including in the Boards of cities and town areas within the County and to confirm appointments”. Pursuant to the provisions of the County Government Act No 17 of 2012 Section 45 (1), the County Public Service Board wishes to recruit Medical Specialists I ( Job Group ‘Q’) under the department of Health Services as below listed:

1. Obstetrics and Gynecologist - Fifteen (15) Posts
2. General Surgeon - Fifteen (15) Posts
3. Psychiatrist - Fifteen (15) Posts
4. Pediatric Dentist - Eight (8) Posts
5. Radiologist - Eight (8) Posts
6. Maxillofacial Surgeon - Eight (8) Posts
7. Physician - Eight (8) Posts

TERMS OF SERVICE: Contract

SALARY SCALE: CPSB 04: Ksh. 102,860 X 5,070 - 107,930 X 5,300 - 113,230 X 5,560 - 118,790 X 5,840 -124,630 X 6,070 -130,700 X 6,370 - 137,070 per month.

Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients
(ii) Carry out specialized clinical care, providing psycho-social interventions
(iii) Providing clinical services to patients
(iv) Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities
(v) Carrying out forensic and medicolegal services
(vi) Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control
(vii) Coordinating health education and promotion; implementing health projects and programmes; maintaining up-to-date health information systems
(viii) Monitoring provision of health treatment and care
(ix) Undertaking health research; and analyzing medical reports

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have-
(i) Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Medical Services/Medical Specialist II in the public or private sector or its equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years
(ii) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
(iii) A Master of Medicine degree in any of the following disciplines: - General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Paediatric Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
(iv) A Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
(v) A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
(vi) A Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six(6) weeks from a recognized institution or its equivalent in an added advantage
(vii) A Certificate in computer application skills will be in an added advantage

ALL applications should be hand delivered in a sealed envelope, clearly marking on top of the envelope the position applied for, and dropped in the specific box provided at County Public Service Board offices, Room 103, first floor at Thika Sub-County offices between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on weekdays.
